What is Bio-Geometric Integration?
Dr. Paul and Dr. Laelle both work within a framework called Bio Geometric Integration, or BGI for short. It is a holistic and complete adjusting framework that directs our understanding of how stresses can store in your system and what is the most efficient and easiest ways to release and integrate the tension that shows up. It’s effective with adults, children, elderly, and pregnant women. It can be used with those seeking wellness, or those who have been in an accident.
When you encounter stress, whether it is physical, emotional, chemical, or technological, that is simply energy that your body has to adapt to. If your system adapts to it completely successfully, we say that is has integrated that experience. But you’re here because that didn’t happen. You’re here because your system didn’t integrate the experience, and it became a tension pattern. Those patterns distort your body, pull on vertebrae and other bones, misaligning them, creating tension in muscles, ligaments, and other soft tissues, and interfering with those delicate nerve structures that control everything.
We call that distortion the subluxation. It is an adaptation that the body undergoes in order to protect itself. It’s like a circuit breaker in a house, protecting the house from fire when there is too much of a load put on the wiring. Instead of burning down, the circuit trips, and the outlet doesn’t work. Chiropractic is about flipping that back on and upgrading the wiring so that it’s less likely to happen again.
These patterns of tension are the subluxation, and aren’t located right at a vertebrae, but rather holistically throughout the body. Sometimes we adjust them with a light fingertip pressure, and other times we use a more dynamic osseous style force application. Those are the ones that can get that cracking sound. Either way, the intent of the adjustment is to allow the body to release that tension and integrate that stored experience so that you can live your Brilliant Life.
Once integrated, that pattern no longer exerts a tension on your body, which results in increased function, improvements in your ability to heal, and less pain or other symptoms. It is not an all or nothing phenomenon, however, which is why we do adjustments over several weeks and months. This continues to train the body, allowing for greater and greater integration of stored stress, and continued improvement in function.
We choose to adjust with BGI because it is incredibly effective, and yet can be very gentle and is honoring of the body wherever it is at. We do the adjustment that is right for you, when it is right for you.
The following is an excerpt from their webpage, at www.bgiseminars.com.
“ Bio-Geometric Integration is a conceptual understanding which enhances the chiropractor’s knowledge of the human body. BGI seminars provide an understanding of the innate geometry of the body and force dynamics surrounding the creation and release of subluxations. The philosophy, science, and art of chiropractic are examined from a post- Newtonian point of view, providing the opportunity to express and understand chiropractic in accord with contemporary science. Through understanding the innate geometry of the body, the chiropractor is able to more effectively and gently release the subluxation and assess the effectiveness of the adjustment. The geometric understanding of the body also serves to bridge the gap between the many techniques of chiropractic by providing a common language and understanding from which to converse ”
BGI combines the latest in scientific understandings and links them with the ancient philosophical and healing traditions that are still true to this day.
